68 committed Health Care Professionals, Counsellors, Pastoral Care Workers attended the 2 day CPD training offered by the LAR team.
The topics covered principles of end of life care, living with chronic illness, 400 days – would I be surprised if this person only had a year or so to live, and also covered suitable therapies to be considered when planning effective psychological therapies for people with advanced chronic and terminal illness.
Evaluations were mixed – most stated that the course provided them with great opportunities to learn how narrative & dignity therapy can be used successfully, some stated that the course allowed them to review previous learnt material, with some people feeling it covered material they already knew.
The next course is a day/evening presentation to Peninsula Health in Vic. on the 10th & 11th April. This will be the first time that the course has been condensed into this format.
The LAR project evaluations are consistently showing that we are meeting the training needs of clinicians either currently working or wanting to work from an authentic person centered approach with people living with advanced chronic or terminal illness.
Its been a real priveldge to meet so many committed and generous people.
