The past 2 days have seen 27 members of the IPC Health – Multidisciplinary Primary Care Teams complete the 2 day Continuing Professional Development Course at the Essendon Football Club Function Centre, at Windy Hill.
Psychologists, Social Workers, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Care Workers, Case Managers, and Team Leaders participated in learning about “Psychological Concerns and Mental Health interventions for people living with an advanced chronic and life limiting illness and their families and caregivers”. Comments such as :
“I feel I could now work better with people with chronic conditions or in palliative care”.
“Please keep doing it. It is so important for Community Health workers to think about these topics and to be able to make better referrals to mental health professionals”. Psychologist.
“I learnt some new approaches such as Dignity Therapy, and being able to use narrative approaches and more ‘sitting with’ experiences and emotions. Counselor
“Julianne was very engaging – leaving us motivated and ready to deal with “tricky” situations. The Folders were great and colouring books fantastic – I thought I would be distracted but it wax the opposite”. Team Leader
